A serious attempt to bring the issues of gender, power, love, sex, discrimination back to the frontline of our struggles, out of the alienated academia and beyond exclusive feminism. A meeting of minds and bodies open to everyone. A push to expose the relevance of these debates in our everyday lives and political work. A step beyond just recognising the problem, towards finding out and testing out ways to deal with them together. WHY? Cause fixed identities are boring, restrictive and dangerous. Cause people get harassed and abused and we don´t know what the hell to do about it. Cause so many meetings turn into tedious cockfights. Cause black block mams & papas should find time to riot too. Cause boys still don´t cry. Cause girls still don´t know how to install linux. Cause tantric sex sounds funky. WHO? You. Me. Everyone. Places are limited, let us know latest by 1.9. escanda-info@gmx.net We want to make an estra effort to enable people with kids to participate. Quiet accommodation spaces can be arranged, as well as kiddie activities during the day, as long as you remember to inform us beforehand. Dogs are not invited. If you have problems covering the travel costs, get in touch with us. WHERE? In the gorgeous green mountains of Asturias. We have 50 places in the two yout hostels nearby, plenty of cow fields to camp in, and some space in the Escanda mansion. HOW? How you want it. We have gathered the ideas so far into a frame for the week. It is still and always up for changes and in need of new ideas. Anything you´d like to be talked about, something you know about and can share, please communicate and contribute. The event is planned mainly through a mailing list, you can see the archives and subscribe in http://lists.riseup.net/www/info/genderescanda. Working languages will be Spanish and English, translations to others organised if needed. Each day will have two workshop sessions, with the number of parallel ones depending of how many we are and how many good ideas we come up with. There will be no cooks, cleaners nor team leaders. Day to day running of the meeting will be carried out by all of us. Friday 12.9. – Sunday 14.9. A skill sharing weekend in preparation for the big week. Mielestäni se on aika kummallinen ratkaisu syrjintäongelmiin. Suomessakin on sellainen koulu. Sen nimi on kasvatuslaitos. Stacy
